So I was way off in guessing the cast! First of all, absolutely gobsmacked that VBW didn’t cast Mark Seibert as the Phantom… surely there’s been some sort of of mistake here. I am very happy for Anton of course, I think he will make a wonderful Phantom even though I see him more as Raoul. But it seemed so inevitable that Mark Seibert would play the Phantom… what happened here. I am not even close to a Seibert fangirl but I still thought for sure it would happen.
Go Lillian Maandag! She will be a popular Christine I believe. She was the understudy for Katie Hall’s role in Schikaneder, so I’ve been a fan for a while. Her sister Annemarijn was the understudy in Oberhausen. One of the few guesses I got correct.
IDK why SOOOO many LND Christines turn Carlotta (or vice versa) but I adore Milica Jovanović and she’s gonna be awesome. Although I still think she could pull off Christine.

Greg Castiglioni was u/s Phantom in the original version of this production in the UK! Plus recently Piangi in the West End revival. Nice that he gets to be a Phantom cover again. Also Roy Goldman is principal Raoul and u/s Phantom, so 2/3 Phantom covers are principals. Robert Meyer was someone I guessed, former LND Phantom and Krolock.
I bet people are going to complain that of the three principal leads, one is Swedish and the other two are Dutch. Actually, of the principals, only Firmin and Madame Giry are native German speakers….

i am devastated by some of the cuts they made in the new sweeney todd cast recording. you’re telling me they had no choice but to not record all but 2 of the ballad reprises, the wigmaker sequence, judge’s johanna (shhh i know this was cut from the production any way), pirelli’s death, most of parlor songs, some interstitial dialogue, etc. and they randomly decided to cut up “final sequence” into five parts… also this is probably unrealistic but considering the hype around nicholas christopher and jeanna de waal, i would have liked a bonus track to showcase them.
i wonder if they will do a EP with a few tracks with aaron tveit and sutton foster. then again i’m really questioning if this production will be able to survive very long after josh leaves. i enjoyed both times i saw this production, still there were MANY bizarre and misguided choices made by the director thomas kail
